Monogon – “Monogon” album review

Our Monogon come from Germany. It is a newly formed band, as its birth is dated in 2020, while the ages of its members are from 18 to 26 years old!

Young ages, fresh ideas I would say. What newness is Monogon presenting here? They have managed to replace the bass with synths, without kicking back in their music. They describe the genre they serve, as alternative thrash metal and I wouldn’t say that they are far from reality. Look up riffs from old Metallica, and a voice that strives to remind of Hetfield (not in tone but in style). Now pass your imagination through a modern prism and enrich the sound with various effects, acoustic and instrumental parts and you’ll get close to what Monogon play.

There is a lot of room for improvement. A typical example is the voice that needs excersice. Apart from that, I liked the production which is quite organic while from the point of view of playing, the guys stand on a very good level despite their young age. The album is released on digi cd by the band itself in 300 copies and you can find it via bandcamp. I’ll close with a little bit of whining as they were easily taken for a much better cover. If I saw this in a record store, I would thinking by mistake for electronic music.
