IMMORTALIZER interview on Metal War

Hello Immortalizer! Welcome to Metalwar ! Tell us a few things about this project. How
and why did you start to create this music project?

  – In 2015 I began working on ideas for Immortalizer. I started playing music when I was 8
years old, so Immortalizer was a long time in the making. By the time I started writing
material for the band, I was writing full demos, writing and recording each instrument
myself. I had been working hard to find my own sound and style and after years of searching
and experimenting I felt I had begun to uncover something original with Immortalizer. All
I’ve ever wanted is to be a professional musician and become a great artist. I was hoping to
create something Metalheads like myself would enjoy and write music with meaning. Most
of all I couldn’t picture myself doing anything other than music, so I refused to give up on
my dream.

Which music genre do you play? What kind of artists influenced your music?

   –  I get that question a lot, I think it’s mainly because I don’t really fit in to any one style or
genre. Originally my idea was to fuse Classic style Heavy Metal with modern day Metal, to
create something a little different. I ended up mixing in quite a few other genres and styles
as well, so it’s made categorizing Immortalizer a bit difficult. But in the end I just want to
make the best music I can, so I try to keep myself as open as possible creatively.
I was influenced by a lot of artists, but among the most impactful are Black Sabbath, Ozzy,
Alice Cooper, White Zombie, Megadeth, Metallica, Van Halen, Judas Priest, Motörhead,
Primal Fear, Helloween, Iron Maiden, Saxon and Symphony X.

Suggest us 3 songs that present the music genre of Immortalizer.

    –  I think Out In The Streets, We Were Born For Metal and The Fallen gives listeners a good
idea of what the band is about.

Your last release is the album “We Were Born For Metal”. Were you born for metal?

   –  It sure feels that way! I was only 7 years old when I first heard Black Sabbath and fell in love
with Metal. I spent the next 29 years immersed in music, learning multiple instruments and
working towards becoming a professional musician. So, I’ve quite literally devoted my whole
life to music. I certainly give it my all when I write and record. Music is my life.

This new album is extremely powerful! It was a pleasure to hear it! How do you feel about
this new release? Does it get the feedback that you’ve wanted to?

   –  Thank you very much, I really appreciate that! I’m very pleased with the end results of the
Born For Metal album. Getting to work directly with Ralf Scheepers one of my biggest
heroes throughout the making of the album and on the We Were Born For Metal single has
been a dream come true. Ralf did such an incredible job mixing, mastering and engineering
the album as well!
I worked really hard to create an entertaining record and I’m extremely happy and humbled
by the positive response so far from critics and fans! It means a lot!

Why anyone should hear your new album “We Were Born For Metal”? What kind of music
elements stands out from this release?

    –  I try to write music and lyrics that leave a lasting impact. My music is very guitar driven but I
try to add something exciting with each instrument on all my songs. I also sometimes shred
on the bass which isn’t super common. On top of a different sound I suppose it’s quite rare
to be a one man band who writes and records everything themselves.

“We Were Born For Metal” is out in vinyl edition! I have to say that is simply stunning!
How did you come up with this idea?

   –  Thanks! I was very pleased to be able to press the album on LP. It’s always been a lifelong
dream of mine. The release was doing well online, so on top of the CD release I decided to
do a limited edition 200 copy run on double LP and 180g vinyl. Each of which I’ve
autographed.

And now what? Do you plan to release any new video from this album?

   –  At the moment the plans for future videos are for the second album release. However, I
might still decide to make some videos for a few of the remaining songs on Born For Metal.

What is the vision of Immortalizer?

  –  I’d love to be able to put a band together to be able to tour the world with Immortalizer.
I’m currently looking for the right label and management company to be able to help make
that happen. I’ve also begun recording the second album and hope to work with Ralf
Scheepers once again. Long term I hope to earn a place beside my heroes and leave my
mark on the Metal universe.

Thank you, Immortalizer, for this great conversation! Any last words?

  –  Thank you, Metalwar ! And Thank you to all the Immortalizer fans around the world! I’m very
grateful for your support. Stay true, stay strong and Stay Metal!
Cheers!
