Formed in Athens in the mid-1990s, FORTESS UNDER SIEGE play power progressive metal combining traditional heavy metal with technical and melodic power metal. Having released their debut mini CD in 1996, they are one of the first Greek bands to play progressive power metal. Since then they have released three more full-length albums, “The Mortal Flesh of Love” (2011), “Phoenix Rising” (2014), “Atlantis” (2020).
During the pandemic FORTRESS UNDER SIEGE managed to turn the problem into an opportunity, they continued to release new material resulting in the summer of 2021 recording their new album “Envy” at Devasoundz Studios with producer Fotis Benardo. With the new record in their arsenal they managed in late 202 to come to an agreement with ROAR! Rock of Angels Records, an agreement that covers the band’s next three records and ensures the band’s continuity for years to come. The new album “Envy” is FORTRESS UNDER SIEGE’s strongest album to date, offering modern power metal without losing the connection to their sonic past. The lyrical context is diverse covering historical, mythological, social and even science fiction topics. The cover once again hosts a work by Ioannis Koutrikas, acting as an allegory of Envy with a beautiful female figure with horns.
Having shared the stage with bands such as Accept, Helloween, Epica Hammerfall, Battle Beast, Guano Apes, Serious Black among others Fortress Under Siege are currently in the process of booking as many live shows as they can in both Europe and Greece for to be able to communicate their music to the largest possible audience!
